Goes along side a video
The book is great. The only downfall and reason I return it, its based off a 7 week video series. Which, is more money that I didn't plan on spending. I didn't know this when purchasing it.
Hard but worthwhile. Informative.
Studying the old testament is not really something I enjoy, especially those first 5-7 books. I don't think of Leviticus, Numbers, and Judges, for example, to be exciting, but when my Bible study group at church said it was this book we would be doing I bought it and went along. I will say Priscilla does an excellent job shedding light on Gideon, doing a good but easy job informing us more on the book of Judges, and ties it all back to modern day us and how, even today, it's still relatable. The book study guide has pushed me (in a good way). I now know way more than I ever did about Judges and Gideon, and even behind the scenes info. She does great job with thoroghness and repetition.
Excellent book! Incredible LIFE CHANGING book
Excellent book! Incredible LIFE CHANGING book! So much encouragement and hope is found in this book. When I read this book I am having a hard time putting the book down because there is so much wonderful information in this book! It is also a helpful book in showing me how to apply the teachings in this book to my daily life. I also enjoy all the historical information about what was going on at the time of Gideon's story.
Excellent study
Excellent study on the life of Gideon. The parallels to Gideon's weaknesses and how God used them and how we live in modern society are eye-opening. The accompanying video goes too quickly to fill in the blanks at times but thankful the answers are in the back of the book.
Good
I have read the Priscilla Shirer Noah and this Gideon bible study. Gideon is much harder to read and has more referring back to bible in it than did Noah. There are not as many scriptures printed in the margin, or side notes. Still all in all it is a good bible study. Any bible study is better than none.
Purchased for online Bible Study - valuable resource!
I wanted to join my first online Bible Study and was intrigued by the lessons around Gideon. This book is very well written and offers pearls of wisdom, thought-provoking interactive questions and challenges you in a way that's both simple and touching. It is broken down into days and weeks. You'll read scripture, complete the supporting section of the book and answer some questions relating to what you interpret from scripture and some relating to your own personal struggles or connection to Gideon's weaknesses and strengths. This Bible study workbook will be a valuable asset to reflect upon after-the-fact as well. Priscilla Shirer's writing is easy to relate to and genuine. It's always nice when an author writes Biblical teachings without getting so deep in theology that the less knowledgeable are lost. This is educational, but easy to digest and will stay with you. Very recommended and empowering. "Learning to overcome weakness by giving it to God" is the main theme and I think everyone could benefit from reading/working this book.
Amazing bible study!
I am only on week 3 of this bible study and can't wait to read more. This is a great book. If you are interested to dig in deeper into Judges this would be the study to do it with.
One of the best bible studies yet!
This is one of the best bible studies I've ever done. It ranks up there with Beth Moore's Esther or Daniel. I think it may be the best one. I watch the videos on replay. The messages were good. Inspiring, empowering and helped me to see His for who he is and me for who I am in him. Buy the book. You won't regret it!

What a great study! Priscilla Shier is the best at “real talk” and puts this book of the Bible in a really applicable way of learning to get the most out of it!
This has been a wonderful study for our small group
This has been a wonderful study for our small group. I'm delighting how thought-provoking Ms Shirer's questions makes each of us. Additionally, she adds in-depth additions to consider over a Biblical story which is covered in only 3 chapters! I believe each of our group has thoroughly enjoyed the Scriptural enhancements to her message that Gideon provides! It's even been good for our novice Bible study attendee--she finds it easy to understand and learn.
